POEA Rules and Regulations

The POEA (Philippine Overseas Employment Authority) is the body governing the deployment of Filipinos abroad. It is this body that signs the crew contract and regulates minimum salary leave entitlement; amount of death benefit and is also the arbitrary body with regard to disputes.

Due to the POEA's wide-ranging responsibility for, and oversight of, overseas Filipino workers, it has drawn up a comprehensive list of rules and regulations that each officer-grade member should be aware of when hiring and/or working with Filipino crew members..

As with most documents of this type, the POEA Rules and Regulations is quite lengthy. In brief, this document covers:

  • Departure and Arrival of Seafarers
  • Document Varification and Processing
  • Formulation of Standard Employment Contracts
  • Legal Assistance and Enforcement
  • Complaint Actions
  • Classification of Offences
  • And more...
